… I went outside just now to water the grass seed I’d spread a few days ago. I watered half of it, then I noticed more quack grass in my rock work so I started to pull it out. That led me into the strawberry patch, which desperately needed weeding. As I weeded I looked up and saw the enormous rhubarb leaves and juicy stalks just begging to be cut. I went for my garden scissors. I docked the leaves, threw them in the compost and went inside with my treasure. Now I have butter melting on the stove and rhubarb and apples mixed with sugar and flour waiting patiently for the crumble to be sprinkled on top before it goes in the oven and becomes a delicious after school snack.
Spring is so distracting.
